Jay Talk – 2/1/24

January 31, 2024

With our goal of continuing to understand our member experience, we’re looking to do something unique. Soon, you’ll be receiving the date for The J Town Hall, where we’ll be asking what you see as our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (S.W.O.T.). Along with some food and drink, it’ll be a new way for us to learn from you key items that will allow us to ultimately improve all we do for the community.

Hard to believe January has come and gone but here we are in February which means:

  • The Super Bowl is right around the corner. It’s the 49ers and Chiefs and should be a great game. So, with it being the last game of the season, once again, give me the winner with the score (example: Chiefs 27-24) and win a free month’s membership. Send your best guess to me at jayj@vosjcc.org.
  • “Heart Month” is a great time to get healthy or healthier! Watch throughout the month for tips, information, and programs all geared to keeping/getting you heart healthy. Interested in our month-long cardio challenge (yes, I’m participating), contact Boone at booneebel@vosjcc.org.

As mentioned, our goal is to meet and exceed your expectations each and every time you walk into The J. A key component of making that happen is a group who — when doing their job in an amazing way — goes unnoticed. So, I’m taking a little space to give a huge shout out to Nadia, Ernie, TSS Cleaning Crew, and our Facilities and Security Teams who do an incredible job keeping us up, running, and secure.

And some thanks:

  • To those who came out for our outdoor Bachus Family Pickleball Center ribbon cutting. It was a terrific turnout and very much appreciated.
  • To the volunteers who made over 2,500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that Rabbi Shmuly and his team distributed out into the community. And a special shout-out to our partners who helped feed both the community and volunteers: Arizona Bread Company, Bimbo Bakeries USA, JJ’s Deli, Milk+Honey, Oroweat Bread Outlet, Rudy’s BBQ, and Wildflower Bread Company! You truly helped us make a difference. Keep an eye out for details for our next J Cares event: a basketball clinic at a Title One school. More details to come.

As always, thank you for being part of our J Family. Always appreciated and never taken for granted.

Have a great weekend!
